1999 Porsche 911 Carrera 4.  The new Carrera 4 packs all-wheel-drive with Porsche's newest traction technology. Ian Kuah delivers this early report.

In summary... Porsches's newest electronics combined with the lessons learned so far in all-wheel-drive have conspired to make the newest 911 4 even more technically brilliant than the car it replaces. But contrary to expecytations, that same traction technology has not decreased driving fun. For the first time in the Carrera 2 versus Carrera 4 debate, the new Carrera 4 is unquestionably the most fun-to-drive 911 of the range. That may change when the Turbo debuts, but for now, the best 911 to drive i the one with all four wheels putting the power down.
