Before 1953, Peugeot was a little-known, funny little French car.
But that was before the Redex Reliability Trials.
In 1953, Redex announced the longest trial since the New York-Paris event of 1908. It would be 10,548 kilometres long. It would be over the toughest 'roads' around Australia: cattle grids, pot holes, creeks and camel tracks.
One hundred and ninety two cars took off, including eleven Peugeot 203's. Not all cars made it home.
But all eleven Peugeots made it home.
And Peugeot wasn't a funny little French car anymore. It was a car as tough as Australia. And so is the latest Peugeot.
