In this completely new (at the time) technical manual, the first privately published on the revolutionary Volkswagen-Bosch electronic fuel injection system, it offered material which should enable a mechanic, engineer as well as the layman to easily understand the fundamentals of this new principle in the automotive field.

Inasmuch as electronic fuel injection is a new automotive application, it was addressed in a separate book (NOT included). This manual is complementary to their VW 1600 technical manual (NOT included). 

Inasmuch as many cars using the earlier system are still on the road, a description of the older versions will be given first. Subsequent modifications are covered later in the book. A table showing the various units used through the years is also included.

The Fourth Edition has been further enlarged and updated to incorporate the many detail modifications that were made since the Fuel Injection (FI) system was first introduced on VW cars in 1967. The latest systems (at the time) offer better starting, quicker response to changing traffic conditions and also provide better fuel consumption. The earlier systems are covered in the back of the book.
