Original 1939-1945 Ford Rear Axle Repair Manual. This book contains information and instructions for the overhaul or repair of the various Ford truck rear axles. Due to the differences in the various models of trucks using these axles, no attempt has been made in this book to cover the procedures necessary to remove the axle from the vehicle. In each instance the instructions and procedures start with the axle already removed from the truck.Three different types of axles are covered in this book, and a chapter is devoted to each of these three types. Chapter ONE covers the standard rear axle as used in types B, T, U, and W trucks (B-School Bus, T-Regular Truck, U- and W-Cab Over Engine trucks) starting with 1939 models. Chapter TWO covers the light truck rear axle as used in types D & Y trucks (D-3/4 ton truck, Y-1 ton truck); Chapter THREE covers the two-speed truck rear axle as provided for optional equipment for types B, T, U, and W trucks, starting with 1939 models.Each of these chapters is divided into sections covering "Description and Disassembly Procedure," "Cleaning, Inspection, and Repair," and "Assembly."Printed May 25, 1945.
