Description

1925 Ford Model TT at Ford Plant Press Photo. Reproduction.

Shows the power house with 190-foot tall smokestacks at FORD's Kingsford Plant in 1925. The power plant evidently had four boilers with a combined capacity of 12,000 horsepower, which was 4 times that of the old plant.

The reason for the plant location was to be close to the source of raw materials to manufacture the wooden parts of Ford cars.

In the 40's the plant turned out station wagons, although during World War II, military gliders were produced here.
The Kingsford Plant closed in December of 1951. Although no longer owned by Ford at the time the smokestacks were demolished on September 13, 2002.
